Lace exhibition at Museum

A New Year exhibition of artwork inspired by the decline of the local lace industry will run at Erewash Museum from 5th January to 9th February.

Artist Victoria Brown has strong family connections to lace manufacture in Nottingham and Derby and her work celebrates the past success of the industry – while also highlighting the sense of loss felt by its decline.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“This exhibition promises to be both nostalgic and thought-provoking and will be a great display to visit as 2012 gets underway at our award winning Museum.”

Erewash Museum is just off the High Street in Ilkeston Town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Admission is free and it is open Monday to Saturday during school holidays. Its regular opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
