Your vote counts

Erewash residents are reminded that they must be registered by Thursday 13 April – just over a month away - to have their right to vote in the Derbyshire County Council (DCC) elections.

The DCC elections are on Thursday 4 May when voters will elect nine county councillors for the Erewash area.

Most residents who are old enough to vote are on the register, which is checked and updated every year by Erewash Borough Council.  However, anyone who knows they are not registered or has recently moved house or moved into the borough should ensure their details are registered.

It is quick and easy to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote Residents who want to check that they are registered to vote in Erewash can fill in a form online that will be responded to within one working day. Visit www.erewash.gov.uk  and click on the ‘Your Council’ tab and follow the ‘elections’ link.

Voters wanting postal or proxy votes should note the following deadlines:

5pm, Tuesday 18 April – for new postal vote and postal proxy applications
5pm, Tuesday 25 April – new applications to vote by proxy
