Erewash Museum is hosting a traditional Victorian Christmas for all the family on Friday 28 November.
Come along and see Santa’s reindeers resting in the stables before their big flight on Christmas Eve - there will also be traditional carol singers, actors depicting the Artful Dodger, Jack Dawkins; Fagin, the cold hearted Ebenezer Scrooge and other well-known characters.
Traditional festive music will be playing throughout the Museum and the gardens will be illuminated with Christmas lights – you can also purchase hot chestnuts on the day.
Admission to the Victorian Christmas fun is free and takes place between 5.30pm and 8.30pm. The event is being run alongside the official opening of the Christmas Lights taking place on Ilkeston Market Place.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“Take time out from the Christmas lights switch on festivities and pop down to the Museum and enjoy the sights and sounds of a traditional Victorian Christmas - the Museum and grounds make a wonderful setting for Christmas family festive fun!
Erewash Museum is situated in Ilkeston town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Monday to Saturday during school holidays. Admission is free.
